Box Score OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Neosho hit just .191 for the match and committed eight service errors as they fell in straight sets to No. 4 Johnson County Community College 19-25, 16-25, 17-25 in their first conference road match of the season.
The Panthers entered Wednesday night's match coming off a thrilling come from behind victory over rival Allen Community College a week before. The long layoff between matches was evident, however, as the Panthers struggled all night to find any consistency against the Cavaliers.
Head coach
Asya Herron shuffled her lineup throughout the match looking for a combination of players that would click Wednesday evening.
"We just didn't play well tonight. We tried every combination we could come up with, but for whatever reason nothing ever really came together. Credit Johnson though, they are a good team and that had a lot do to with it."
The lone bright spot for the Panthers was freshman
Jill Starling who had another solid game. She tallied 12 kills with only 1 error while hitting .367 for the match while also tallying 8 digs. It was the third time this season that Starling hit better .350.
The loss drops the Panthers to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The two loses so far have both come to ranked opponents. Neosho will travel to Marshalltown, Iowa this weekend for the Tiger Invitational where they will play four matches.
