CHANUTE, Kan. – The Neosho Panthers (16-19, 3-7) snapped a season long five match losing streak with a 3-0 over Friends University (18-8, 14-2) on Sophomore Night.

Neosho jumped all over the Falcons in the first set. The Panthers scored 13 straight points to grab a 15-2 lead and cruised to a 25-10 win in the first. The second set would be much tighter but the Panthers would pull out a 25-23 win.

Between the second and third sets nine sophomores were honored as they played their final home game in a Panther uniform.

When they stepped back out on the court they were once again in a battle but held on for the win with a second 25-23 win.

The nine sophomores were the only Panthers to step on the court on sophomore night. Setters
Brea May (15 assists, 12 digs) and
Korissa White (13 assists, 7 digs) spread the ball around as everyone finished with multiple kills.
Madigan Gonzales led the way with 7,
Katy Rhodd and
Peyton Peavey each finished with 6,
Carolina Alfonso had 5,
Cherish Barry had a career high 4, and
Annelle Anderson added 2. Sophomore libero
Katie Pettis picked up 10 balls and added an assist.

The Panthers will travel to No. 7 Cowley College (25-11, 9-0) Saturday at 1:00pm for the opening round of the District M Playoffs. The winner will advance to the championship match against the winner of No. 13 Johnson County vs. Coffeyville with a trip to the NJCAA Championship on the line.
