The Panthers opened the 2013 season against Coffeyville Community College dispatching them in straight sets, 25-18, 25-20, and 25-15. Sophomore

Next up for the Panthers was a match with the host Greyhounds of Fort Scott. The rowdy Greyhound crowd may have gotten in the Panthers head early as Fort Scott won the first set 25-18. The Panthers calmed down after the rocky start and took the next three sets 25-17, 30-28, and 25-21. Wampler was a force at the net once again as she posted a game high 12 kills while hitting .455. Saturday would see the Panthers open play with another game against a conference opponent as they squared off with Labette Community College. The Panthers cruised past the Cardinals in straight sets 25-16, 25-14, and 25-19. It was a balanced offensive attack in the match as no Panther reached double figures in kills, but five players recorded at least four kills. Gifford was great for the Panthers once again as she dug out 20 balls.
The last match of the tournament would be the Panthers only loss on the weekend. Three different Panthers posted double digit kill totals but it was not enough as they fell 3-1 to the Trojans. For the match Neosho County only hit .153. Gifford once again was stellar defensively as she tied her career high with 32 digs. Broadfoot notched her second double-double of the tournament finishing with 44 assists and 19 digs.
The Panthers will be back in action Wednesday (Aug. 28) when they travel to Coffeyville for their first conference game of the year.
