Box Score After escaping with a win over NAIA foe Bethel College Friday (Nov. 9) the Panthers found themselves trailing Ottawa University early in the first half Monday (Nov. 12). They would overcome the slow start and the Braves hot shooting early to improve to 4-0 with a 92-74 win.
The Ottawa Braves jumped out to an early lead on the shoulders of freshman Eric Grant. The Braves shot a blistering 77% for the game's first 10 minutes including 5-5 from behind the three point line from Grant. The Panthers trailed 25-20 at the first half media timeout.
The Panthers found themselves trailing 36-31 with just under 5 minutes to go in the half when they turned the defensive intensity up.
D'Avonte Garland would lead the Panthers on a 17-2 run to end the half as the freshman guard would tally 2 steals while going 3-3 from the field with a pair of assists in the final 4 minutes of the half.
The Panthers would continue to pester the Braves defensively in the second half as they continued to build on their lead. They would push the lead out to as many as 26 points in the second half before settling on the 18 point victory.
Jake Stoppel led the Panthers with 17 points on 8-14 shooting.

D'Avonte Garland joined Stoppel in double figures for the game. Batish scored 10 or his 13 in the first half while Garland had 8 of his 11 in the first period.
Jeremy Nolen narrowly missed a double-double as he led the Panthers with 9 rebounds to go with his 9 points.
The Panthers improve to 4-0 with the win which is their best start since they began the season 9-0 in 2004. They will be back in action Saturday (Nov. 17) when they travel to Newton, Kansas to take on Bethel College.
