CHANUTE, KAN- Men's Soccer Beats Allen 3-2 in a Thrilling Home Opener
How it Happened:
Neosho County Community College Men's Soccer played host to Allen Community College on Wednesday evening at 8.30PM on the Chanute Soccer Complex. The game started off to a flying start, Neosho had an early chance when Travis Martin found himself in the box and got his shot away that was smartly blocked from the Allen backline. Neosho then pushed forward into the Allen half with a mazy run from Leonardo Menzen who then slid the ball through to Tom Francois who hit the back of the net with only 23 minutes on the clock. Allen County then returned a goal in the 25th minute with some smart play from a quick free kick that caught the Panthers off guard.
The game then went into half time with the scores tied at 1-1. The second half was played with just as much energy as the first. Both teams were attacking and defending with everything they had. Panthers striker Tom Francois found himself through the defense again with yet another assist from Leonardo Menzen to put the panthers up 2-1. The Panthers thought they had a real leg up in the game when they hit the net another minute later until the referee canceled it out. This did not stop the Panthers, they broke once more through Tom Francois who gave the ball to Jack Kay who thrashed the ball into the back of the Allen goal to make the score 3-1.
Allen pushed back and scored a penalty kick with 15 minutes left in the game. Neosho finished very strong defensively and put the game to bed leaving them with their third win of the season.
Neosho will play host to Crowder College Saturday August 28th at 8.30PM here in Chanute Kansas. Livestream coverage can be found at: https://team1sports.com/neosho/.
