Panther Baseball Sweeps Highland at Home

Panther baseball played host to the Scotties of Highland Community College this afternoon for their last KJCCC action of the year. Neosho County needed one win to ensure that they kept the #7 seed in the KJCCC playoffs. The Panthers got their one win, plus another, as they swept the Scotties. Neosho County took game one by a score of 7-2 and game two 21-8 (in 7 innings). The sweep sends the Panthers overall record to 24-25 and 12-20 in KJCCC play. 

Game 1:
The Panthers sent freshman pitcher Owen Chaffin to the mound to square off with the Scotties in game 1. Chaffin tossed 7.0 innings, gave up 1 earned run, and scattered 4 hits. The right hander picked up his 4th win of the season with his performance. Offensively, the Panthers plated 7 runs on 9 hits. Daegan Brady and Luke Burk both notched two hits and left the yard in the contest. Mason Lundgrin and Ivan Witt also notched two hits and both had a double in the ballgame. 

Game 2: 
Drake LaRoche took the hill for game two of the doubleheader, looking to snatch a conference series win over the Scotties. The Fort Scott native, tossed 7.0 innings, gave up 4 earned runs, and gave up 9 hits. The performance was good enough to give LaRoche his 4th win of the season. Offensively, the Panthers exploded for 21 runs on 14 hits. Andrew Brautman was a major standout in the game, going 4-4 with a HR and 4 RBI. Mason Lundgrin was also a big contributor as he notched 3 hits in the game, leaving the yard once, and logging 3 RBI. Mack Clark anchored the lineup as the DH and had 2 HR and 7 RBI in the game. 

What's Next:
The Panthers will play host to the Wolves of Metropolitan Community College on Monday, May 3rd, to wrap up their regular season. The single 9 inning game is scheduled for 1:00 PM. Livestream can be found at: https://team1sports.com/neosho.
