Panthers Split with Fort Scott at Home

Panther baseball played host to Fort Scott Community College this afternoon for a KJCCC doubleheader. The Panthers split with the Greyhounds taking game one by a score of 9-2 and dropping game two 14-8. The split sends the Panthers record to 14-15 overall and 7-11 in KJCCC play.

Game 1:
The Panthers sent University of Houston commit, Taylor Parrett to the hill to start game one of the conference doubleheader. Outside of a run in the 1st and 2nd inning, Parrett held the Greyhounds scoreless. The hard throwing right hander, ended up tossing 7.0 innings, giving up 1 earned run, scattering 2 hits, while striking out 7. Offensively, the Panthers scored 9 runs on 7 hits. Andrew Brautman was a big contributor with 2 hits (one of which being a HR that sailed over the RF fence) and 2 RBI. Mason Lundgrin also chipped in 2 hits and 3 RBi in the game. The solid pitching performance combined with timely hitting, gave the Panthers a 9-2 win over the Greyhounds.

Game 2:
The Panthers sent Jack Ebright to the mound to start game two of the doubleheader. Unfortunately, for the Panthers, and Ebright, his outing would not be what anyone was looking for. He would end up giving up 9 runs on 9 hits, in 2 innings pitched. The Panthers found themselves on the wrong end of a 9-0 deficit after only 2 innings of play. However, the Panthers would not go away quietly. Relief pitcher Adam Birch came into the game and kept Neosho County in a ballgame. He tossed 5.0 innings, giving up 2 earned runs, and scattered 3 hits. Offensively, the Panthers chipped away at the large lead and got a great performance out of: Mason Lundgrin, who logged 4 hits in the game. Drew Miller also contributed 3 RBI with one swing, as he hit his 12th homerun of the season. As a team, the Panthers scored 8 runs on 13 hits. Unfortunately, for the Panthers, the early deficit was too much to overcome, as they would eventually fall to the Greyhounds 14-8.

The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, when they travel to Fort Scott, KS to take on the Greyhounds,to finish off their 4 game series. Doubleheader action will begin at 1:00 PM.
