The Panthers took their longest road trip of the year to square off with the Scotties of Highland Community College this afternoon. The road trip resulted in a split with the Panthers falling 13-6 in game one and taking the win 29-14 in game two. The split gives Neosho County an overall record of 22-25 and a KJCCC record of 10-20.Â
Game 1:Â
The Panthers sent freshman right-hander
Taylor Parrett to the hill in game one of the doubleheader. Parrett struggled against the Scotties lineup giving up 7 runs (6 earned) on 7 hits, in 4.0 innings of work. Jacob Beckmann tossed an inning in relief giving up 4 runs on 4 hits.
Colten Nelson also tossed an inning giving up 2 runs on 1 hit. Panther pitchers had trouble keeping the ball in the yard this afternoon, as the Scotties hit 7 HR's in game number 1. Offensively, the Panthers were slow to get going. They were held scoreless for 4 innings, only mustering one hit. They did explode for 4 runs in the 5th inning to cut their defecit to 7-4. However, the Scotties would plate 6 more in the 6th to run away with the game late. Overall, the Panthers ended up with six runs on 7 hits.
Andrew Brautman and
Daegan Brady both had multi-hit games to lead the Panther offense.Â
Game 2:
Neosho County sent
Jack Ebright to the hill to try and slow the Scotties offense down. Ebright would struggle to keep the Highland County hitters off balance as he tossed 5.0 innings giving up 14 runs (12 earned) on 14 hits. The right-hander would also struggle to keep the Scotties lineup in the yard, as they went deep 6 times on him. The Panthes were looking at a 7-0 defecit after two innings of play, however, they exploded for 6 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Neosho County hitters definitely stepped up in this game as they plated 29 runs on 17 hits. The Panthers were led by
Andrew Brautman who had three hits, all of which were Home Runs, and 6 RBI. Other standouts offensively were
Ivan Witt, who left the yard twice and logged 5 RBI in the game.
Mason Lundgrin, and
Jordon Helm also were big contributors, as both notched three hits in the game. Overall, the Panthers left the yard 7 times in game two, and recorded 10 extra base hits.
