Panthers Drop Two to KCK at Home

The Panthers opened up a series with the Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCK) this afternoon, from Hudson Field. Unfortunately, for the Panthers they were on the losing side of both games. Neosho County dropped game one 5-4 in extra innings and game two 10-1. The two losses send the Panthers overall record to 19-23 and 8-18 in KJCCC play.

Game 1:
Fargo, ND native, Taylor Parrett toed the rubber to kick off the KJCCC series for the Panthers. The right hander tossed 6.0 innings gave up 0 earned runs, and scattered six hits. Unfortunately, four runs were scored while he was on the hill, due to some untimely errors by the Panther defense. The offense was stagnant for most of the game for the Panthers, as they scored a lone run through 5 innings. However, the bats came alive in the 6th inning and put up a three spot on the scoreboard, to tie up the game 4-4, on a big two-run homerun by Drew Miller, his 15th of the year . Colten Nelson tossed a clean 7th inning to give the Panthers the chance to walk-off the Blue Devils in the bottom of the 7th. However, Parker Weddle came out and tossed a scoreless inning himself for the Blue Devils. Nelson came out in the 8th and gave up 1 run. Nathan Hungate came out of the pen to toss the last 0.2 innings for the Panthers. Hunter Cashero came in for KCK in a save situation and recorded the final three outs of the game to seal a 5-4 victory, stranding Ivan Witt on 2B to end the ball game.

Game 2:
The Panthers sent freshman pitcher Jack Ebright to the mound to start game two of the doubleheader. The Wichita native, struggled at times today logging 5.1 innings, giving up 4 earned runs, and 10 hits. Adam Birch made an appearance out of the bullpen throwing 1.2 innings, and giving up 0 runs, on 1 hits. The Panthers offense, was held to just 1 run on 2 hits in this game. Once again, costly errors led to several opportunities for KCK to score, and they took advantage of it.

What's Next:
The Panthers will look to get back on the right track as they will travel to Kansas City, KS, on Saturday, April 24th, to square off with the KCK Blue Devils for another two games in KJCCC play.
