The Panthers hit the road this afternoon to take on the #6 ranked Cavaliers of Johnson County Community College, in KJCCC play. Neosho County showed up to the field and was not scared to square off with a nationally ranked team. They played the Cavaliers close, however, took two losses in the doubleheader. Johnson County made their move in the 6th inning by putting up a 3 spot on the scoreboard. This would ultimately be the nail in the coffin for the Panthers, as they could not mount a comeback from the 3 run defecit.
Tyler McQuinn made an appearance out of the bullpen for Neosho County tossing 0.2 innings, giving up 0 runs, and 1 hit. Offensively, the Panthers scored 3 runs on 7 hits in the ball game.
Andrew Brautman and
Ivan Witt both had two hit games for the Panthers.
Khalil Thrasher,
Daegan Brady, and
Mason Lundgrin notched hits for the Panthers as well. Runners left on base and strikeouts were once again the Achilles heel for the Panthers offensively. Neosho County left 8 runners on and struck out 13 times in the ballgame.Â
Game 2:
Jack Ebright took the mound for the Panthers in game number two of the day. He tossed 8.0 innings gave up 5 earned runs and 11 hits, to a very explosive offense. Offensively, the Panthers scored 4 runs on 8 hits.
Mason Lundgrin was a major contributor for the Panthers offensively, as he notched 4 hits (1B, 2 2B, HR)Â in the contest. Runners left on base and strikeouts were once again a problem for Neosho County hitters. The Panthers could not cash in a runner on third with less than 2 outs, three different times in the game, which proved to be the difference in a win and a loss in the ball game.
