Panthers Drop Two at Labette

Neosho Panther baseball was back in action this afternoon for KJCCC play, in Parsons, KS, to square off with the Labette Community College Cardinals. Unfortunately, for the Panthers, they would get walked off 3-2 in 8 innings in game number one, and 10-8 in game two. The two losses send the Panthers overall record to 10-13 and their conference record to 5-9.
Game 1:
Panther right handed pitcher Taylor Parrett took the hill for the Panthers in game one. Parrett threw well enough to win as he tossed 7.0 innings, gave up 2 earned runs, and scattered 5 hits, and struck out 11. Offensively, the Panthers could not get going and mustered 2 runs on 5 hits for the ballgame. However, the offense rallied in the top of the 7th inning to score one and knot up the game at 2. The Cardinals would end up getting the last laugh in the 8th inning, as they would drive a 1 out single into left field to end the game in walk-off fashion, 3-2. Nathan Hungate pitched the bottom of the 8th and gave up 1 run (unearned), on 1 hit, and unfortunately took the loss in this contest.
Game 2:
Game two would prove to be a more offensive for both teams, as the final score ended up being 10-8 in favor of the Cardinals. Jack Ebright got the nod to start game two and tossed 5.0 innings, gave up 4 earned runs, and 6 hits, striking out 8. Jordan Linderer would also toss 1.1 innings in this contest, giving up 4 runs, on 2 hits.  Former Panther Luke Wolgamott would prove to be a major factor in this game as he went 2-4 with 2 HR in the contest, driving in 4. Offensively, the Panthers scored 8 runs on 5 hits. Daegan Brady, Mason Lundgrin, and Ivan Witt all left the yard to provide a spark for the offense. Lundgrin's grand slam could not have come at a better time, as the Panthers were down 8-4 with 2 outs in the 7th inning. Unfortunately, for the Panthers, the Cardinals had some fireworks of their own in the bottom of the 7th inning. Boone Lasater called game and sent a ball over the left field fence, to take down the Panthers 10-8.

The Panthers will seek to even up the series with the Cardinals on Saturday, April 3rd, at Hudson Field.
