The Neosho County Panthers played host to #7 Crowder College Roughriders this afternoon at Hudson Field. Mother Nature brought a great day for baseball as the high was 75 degrees. However, the nice day also came along with some very windy conditions. Winds were blowing 20-30 MPH with gusts over 40 MPH throughout the entire game. Hitters definitely had the advantage in this one, as 26 total runs were scored in 6 innings of play. It was very hard to keep the ball inside of the field of play today. Thirteen home runs got out of Hudson Field in the contest. Unfortunately for the Panthers, eleven of those home runs came off of the bats of the Roughriders.
Brady Pacha,
Jordan Linderer, and
Tyler McQuinn shared time on the mound in a very difficult day to pitch. Pacha started the game and lasted 3.0 innings. Linderer came in out of the bullpen and threw 2.0 innings. McQuinn threw the final inning of the game giving up three hits, and one run.Â
The Panthers offense ended up with nine hits on the day.
Mason Lundgrin and
Ivan Witt went deep in this contest.
Andrew Brautman,
Daegan Brady, and
Drew Miller all ended the game with two hits in the ballgame. Panthers were struck by swinging and missing, as they punched out 10 times in the game. They also fell victim to untimely hitting, as they left six runners in scoring position.Â
Head Coach Steve Murry's thoughts on the ballgame, "today was a tough day to pitch the baseball. In order to be successful we had to keep the ball down...and we just didn't do that. Offensively, we had a great first inning and then we just kind of died. Both teams had the chance to hit into the jet stream, however, I thought that Crowder took better advantage of the elements today".Â
Neosho County will begin KJCCC play on Thursday against Allen County Community College. Due to field maintenance at Allen County's complex, all four games of the series will be played at Hudson Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM on both Thursday and Saturday.Â
