Chanute, KS – The Panthers took down the Thunderbirds of Cloud County in their second five set match of the week (18-25, 26-24, 30-28, 20-25, 15-7). The Thunderbirds took control early in set one and took the lead and held onto it until the end of set one. Set two Cloud took a five point lead at 11-6 before the Panthers tied it up at 12-12 and took the lead. Cloud rallied points together to tie it up again at 18-18. Again, the match was tied up at 22-22 before Cloud would take a 24-23 lead. A kill by
Riley Kallevig would tie it up again at 24-24 and a kill by
Jolene Tidwell gave the Panthers the lead. An error by Cloud finally ended set two at 26-24. In set three, the Panthers would continue with their momentum and come out with an 18-9 lead. The Panthers were two points away from a set win, but Cloud crept back in going on a 7-0 scoring run to tie it up at 23-23. The Panthers and Thunderbirds traded points back and forth at the end of the set to go extra points. The Panthers finally rallied together two points to end set three 30-28. Cloud took over in set four and came out with the lead and maintained it throughout the set. The Thunderbirds would take set four 25-20. In a winner takes all fifth set, the Panthers came out ready to take care of business and started with a 5-1 and did not let up. The Panthers come away with a 15-7 victory in set 5 to take the match.

Hannah Brisco with 15 kills. Defensively they were led by freshman libero
Brooklyn Strobel with 27 digs she was followed by freshman outside
Riley Kallevig, freshman defensive specialists
Kinley Poynter, and sophomore defensive specialists
Nyah Alexander who all recorded 11 digs in the match.
Moving to 11-6 overall and 10-5 in conference, the Panthers take on #6 Johnson County in another conference match on Saturday, March 20 at home at 2:00 pm.
