The Panther baseball team got blessed with a beautiful day to play two this afternoon. A High of 66 made for some very comfortable baseball weather. Neosho Couny took advantage of this weather and pulled out two wins today over the #14 NJCAA D2 ranked NE Nebraska Hawks. The Panthers took down the Hawks 12-5 in game 1 and 4-0 in game 2.Â
Game 1:
Â
Taylor Parrett the Panthers right-handed ace, from North Dakota, took the hill in game one versus the Hawks of NE Nebraska CC. Parrett was not sharp, however, he competed and gave the Panthers a chance to win by attacking hitters. Parrett ended up tossing 5.0 innings, giving up 3 earned runs, and striking out 8 hitters. The real story of this game was the Panthers offense. Offensively, Neosho County scored 12 runs on 11 hits.
Mack Clark was a standout for the Panthers as he went 3-4 with 2 HR.
Brett Wiemers was also a big contributor as he notched 4 RBI in the ballgame. Jacob Beckmann got the nod to throw the final two innings of this ballgame and tossed two scoreless frames.
Game 2:
Jack Ebright took the mound for the Panthers in game 2 of this doubleheader, and he decided he would stay for a while. Ebright threw an absolute gem and ended up tossing a complete game shutout, scattering five NE Nebraska hits, and struck out 8. Offensively,
Drew Miller and
Mason Lundgrin did the damage for the Panthers. Miller got the party started for Neosho County in the first inning as he sent a towering fly ball over the left-center field fence for a two-run home run. Miller got himself another RBI in the 6th inning when he hit a double to score
Daegan Brady.
Mason Lundgrin capped off the Panthers scoring in the sixth when he drove a ball over the left-center field fence for a solo shot.Â
The Panthers will look to get a series win against the Hawks of NE Nebraska tomorrow afternoon as they will finish out the series with a doubleheader at Hudson Field. First pitch of game one is slated for 12 PM. Livestream coverage can be found at:Â https://team1sports.com/neosho/.Â
