Baseball Completes Sweep on Opening Day

Neosho Baseball was in action this afternoon as they played host to the Ottawa University Braves for a doubleheader to open up their season. The Panthers got off to a quick start to the 2021 season as they took down the Braves 18-3 in game one and 7-1 in game two. 
Game One Highlights:
Freshman Jordan Linderer got the start for the Panthers in game on of the season. The lefty from Lenexa, KS went 4.0 innings, gave up 3 runs, on 1 hit, 4 walks, and struck out two Braves hitters. The real story of game one was the Panthers offensively. Neosho County had 16 hits in the ballgame and crossed home plate 18 times. There were several players that had multiple hits in the game. Daegan Brady (3), Drew Miller (3), Mason Lundgrin (3), Brett Wiemers (2), Ivan Witt (2). Miller led the team with 5 RBI, however, Lundgrin was not far behind with 4 in the game as well. Freshman right handed pitcher, Andrew Hansen made his first collegiate appearance throwing a scoreless inning. 

Game Two Highlights: 
Freshman Brady Pacha got the start for the Panthers in game two of the doubleheader. He tossed a very good game going 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, 1 run, and stuck out 5. Pacha did a great job attacking the zone and making the Braves hitters get themselves out. Offensively, the Panthers were not as dominate and left several runners in scoring position throughout the game. Daegan Brady, Khalil Thrasher, Brett Wiemers (2), Austin Arceneaux, and Tyler Dinges all notched hits in the win.

Stats from the Day: 
The Panthers played very well defensively, and did not commit an error in the 12 innings of play today. Jordon Helm made several outstanding plays at second base over the course of the doubleheader. 

Khalil Thrasher finished the day with a .667 batting average, and a .878 OBP for the day. Drew Miller finished the day with a .600 batting average, a .750 OBP, and 5 RBI. Brett Wiemers and Daegan Brady are tied for most hits on the team with 4 hits a piece.
