Chanute, KS – Neosho Volleyball kicked off the 2021 season with a home match against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. The Panthers fall to N.E.O. in a tough 5 set match. (18-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20, 11-15.) N.E.O jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first set, but Neosho fought back and cut the lead to one at 16-17, but a late run by N.E.O. would close out the first set. The Panthers came back in set two and were the ones to jump to an early lead this time. The Panthers never relinquished the lead and went on to win the set 25-20. The third set proved to be similar to the first one, but the Panthers fought back in set four and forced a fifth set. The fifth set was a back and forth affair that ended on a late run by N.E.O. to seal the match.
Freshman Right Side,
Hannah Brisco led the offense with 13 kills followed by
Riley Kallevig with 12 kills. Defensively
Brooklyn Strobel led the panthers with 19 digs, while Sophomore
Nyah Alexander recorded 16 digs. Freshman setter
Rylee Moseman recorded 31 assists in her debut.
The Panthers look to capture their first win of the season in their conference opener against Hesston College on Thursday, January 28
th at 6:30 PM.
