Four runs batted in from
Mallory Gazaway helped lead the Panthers past Rose Sate College 12-4 for game one Friday. Gazaway drove in runs on a home run in the first, a double in the second, and a walk in the fifth. The bats were hot right from the start when, in the first inning, Neosho got their offense started when
Shelby Hensley homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. NCCC then put up five runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower by the Panthers was led by
Madison Phillips and Gazaway, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Sophomore lefty
Ryleigh Chaffin got the win for game one. She surrendered three runs on six hits over three and a third innings, striking out three and walking one.
Cassidy Paulson threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. The Panthers smacked three home runs during the first game. Hensley and Gazaway both had a long ball in the first inning, and Phillips put one out in the second inning. Neosho County tallied 11 hits during the game. Gazaway, Phillips, and Crowe each collected two hits to lead NCCC.
Unfortunately Game two did not go the Panthers way and the game slipped away early, and Neosho couldn't recover in a 16-7 loss. The Panthers collected eight hits, and scored three runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by Neosho was led by
Kinley Nance and
Amanda Dodds, who all drove in runs.
Jenna Reed took the loss for Panthers. She lasted two innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out one and walking one. The Panthers tallied three home runs on the for game two, with Hensley hitting one out in the first, and both
Amanda Dodds and
Kinley Nance hitting dingers in the fourth inning. Nance and
Ryleigh Chaffin each collected two hits to lead the Panthers.
Taylor Baker and
Shelby Hensley each had a hit a piece.
