Chanute, KS - Neosho Panthers delivered a dominant performance in game one over Cloud, cruising to a 15-0 victory behind a powerful offensive showing and lights-out pitching.
Abbi Godfrey led the charge at the plate, blasting two home runs—one in the first inning and another in the fourth—and driving in three runs. The Panthers wasted no time setting the tone, launching three home runs in the opening inning.
Brenna Kohlmeier's three-run shot to center field got the scoring started and sparked an early surge. The offense kept rolling in the second inning, where Neosho erupted for six runs on six hits.
Delaney Hill crushed a three-run homer to center, while
Kaitlin Base added a two-run single and
Jayden Willard followed with an RBI single to extend the lead. Neosho continued to pile on in the fourth inning with three more runs, highlighted by additional home runs from Godfrey and Willard, further showcasing the team's depth and power.
On the mound,
Kamden Bray was in complete control, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just three hits, striking out five, and issuing no walks to earn the win. The Panthers finished with 13 hits in total, with Base, Godfrey, Kohlmeier, Willard, and Hill each driving in three runs. Defensively, Neosho was flawless, committing no errors, and Hill led the team with seven fielding chances.
In game two, the Panthers battled at the plate but couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 13-3 to Cloud in game two. Despite the loss, Neosho showed some bright spots offensively.
Brenna Kohlmeier and
Delaney Hill led the way, each collecting two hits while hitting back-to-back in the lineup and consistently putting pressure on the defense.
Kaylee Parker, Kohlmeier, and Hill each drove in a run for the Panthers. Neosho recorded seven hits in the game and found ways to create scoring opportunities, but Cloud jumped out early with a big first inning and continued to add on in the second and third.
Pilar Cox took the loss on the mound, striking out four over two and two-thirds innings. The Panthers' pitching staff continued to battle throughout the game, working to limit further damage after the early innings. Defensively, Neosho continued to compete and look for ways to shift momentum, while also turning their focus toward building consistency on both sides of the ball.
The Panthers will look to bounce back and carry the positives forward as they hit the road to take on FSCC Greyhounds on Saturday.
