Panthers Finish 3-1 at the Allen Invitational

Neosho Volleyball increased their win streak to five in the victory over tournament host Allen County on Saturday morning. The Panthers took down the Red devils in 3 straight sets (25-21, 25-22, 29-27). Jill Starling led the way for the Panthers offensively with 9 kills followed by Sabrina Ebarb with 6 kills. Defensively for Neosho there were several contributors, but Taryn Strobel led as she finished with 19 digs followed by Jill Starling with 16 digs.
Next, Neosho faced off with #13 Fort Scott Community College. The Panthers lost in a tough 4 set match (25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 27-29). All four sets were back and forth games, but only one of them ended in favor of the Panthers. Neosho trailed 22-24 in what ended up being the final set, but fought back and tied up the set at 24-24.  It looked like the Panthers might force a game five as they took the 25-24 lead but the teams battled back and forth.  Neosho was ahead by 1 point or tied until Fort Scott tied the match again at 27-27, then the Greyhounds finally finished the match earning two straight points. Neosho and Fort Scott will face-off again on September 22 for the Jayhawk conference match up. Jill Starling lead the Panthers with 14 kill, followed by Jessie Roukema, who had a season high 10 kills. Haley Slade contributed with 23 assists for the match.
The Panthers finished the week at 4-1 and are 13-6 overall and 2-2 in conference. Their next match is Wednesday September 23 at 6:30pm at Cowley College.
