The Neosho County Community College volleyball squad returned to the win column with a doubleheader sweep of Friends University on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers, now 5-2 on the season, swept Friends in game one, 25-18, 25-16 and 25-13.
Freshmen Sabrina Ebarb and Riley McGinn led the Neosho County attack with eight kills apiece. Sophomores Mackenzie Brown and Jill Starling tallied six each. Starling led the team in assists with 15, while freshman Haley Slade added 12.
Defensively, freshman Taryn Strobel recorded a team-high 21 digs, while Ebarb had two solo blocks.
In game two, the Panthers won 3-1.
Neosho County took game one, 25-18, but Friends fought back to take game two, 25-20. The Panthers won the next two sets to close out the win, 25-20 and 25-14.
Three Panther players recorded double-figure kills with freshman Rianne Richard leading the way with 15. Brown and Sterling added 14 and 10, respectively.
The Panthers (5-2 overall and 0-1 in the KJCCC) return to conference play against Allen County Community College (3-3 and 1-0) on Wednesday in Iola. Action gets underway at 6:30 pm.
