Box Score Four days after beating Hesston College 4-0, the Panthers men's soccer team was back on the road. This time to face Blue River in a battle between two NJCAA ranked teams. Blue River who beat Neosho County last year also had a 1-1 record prior to the game.
It was a very entertaining game as both teams looked to attack right from the start, but it was Neosho County who got on the scoreboard first. A well-worked counter attack by the Panthers left
Jack Lambert open out wide, Lambert then played an inch perfect through ball to
Matheus Alves. Alves made no mistake with the finish for his second goal of the season. Alves and Lambert linked up a few more times towards the end of the first half but were not able to create another goal.
The Trailblazers were quick off the mark after the break. It only took them a few seconds to get the equalizing goal. The momentum
changed into Blue River's favor towards the end of the game, but
Ryan Davis made some big saves late on to take the game into overtime. Both over time periods were back and forth as neither team managed to find a winning goal.
Neosho County will now begin preparation for another tough road trip on Wednesday, September 2nd to Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa. NOC is also receiving votes in the NJCAA National Poll.
