Kinzey’s Four Goal Game Powers Panthers

Box Score CHANUTE, Kan. – Haylie Kinzey tied her career high with four goals, and four other Panthers found the back of the net as Neosho cruised past Cowley 8-nil to even their record in Jayhawk Conference play at 2-2. The Panthers outshot Cowley 23-3 including an 18-1 advantage on shots on goal.
 
The Panthers entered the match with Cowley Saturday afternoon coming off their worst loss of the season, a 6-0 shutout at Johnson County. A quick goal by Danielle McClure would help put the loss behind them. McClure got the Panthers on the board just 1:08 into the game scoring her second goal of the season off an assist from Eliany Parra.
 
In the 11th minute it was Kinzey that broke free, netting her sixth goal of the season. She would again find herself alone on a breakaway in the 18th and found the back of the net to extend the lead to 3-nil.
 
The first half flurry of goals was just beginning however as Nazareth Viramontes added her second goal of the season in the 23rd minute. Less than a minute Later Kinzey again scored to give her the hat trick for the second time in her career.
 
Parra would close out the first half scoring with a goal in the 43rd minute giving the Panthers a 6-nil lead at the break.
 
The second half would see the Panthers scoring slow down, but in the 60th minute Marlene Canchola scored her first goal of the season off an assist from her sister, Melissa Canchola.
 
In the 75th minute Kinzey would score the final goal of the match to give her four for the match. The four goals tied her career high in the Panthers final game of the 2013 season against Dodge City.
 
Breanna Williams recorded her third career shutout and second of the season while improving her season record to 2-1-0 filling in for the injured Raysha Claibourn.
 
The Panthers improve to 5-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in KJCCC after receiving word earlier in the day of a forfeit by NOC-Tonkawa of their match earlier this month. The Panthers will head back out on the road Tuesday, September 23 when they travel to Kansas City Kansas Community College.
