Overland Park, KS - The Neosho Panthers battled valiantly in the Conference Championship, showing heart, determination, and moments of real quality, but ultimately fell 3–0 to an undefeated Johnson County side.
The Panthers started brightly and showed early intent, earning a penalty that could have changed the game's momentum. Unfortunately, they couldn't capitalize, and two more golden opportunities went begging soon after. Despite being the better side for large stretches of the first half, a brief lapse in concentration allowed Johnson County to take the lead midway through the period.
Heading into halftime, it felt like déjà vu from the KCK matchup, with Neosho trailing and chasing the game once again. The Panthers emerged from the break determined and full of energy, battling hard against the wind and continuing to press for an equalizer. However, despite their effort and control in key phases, the breakthrough never came.
With fifteen minutes remaining, Neosho pushed numbers forward in a last-ditch effort to level the score. That attacking gamble left them exposed, and Johnson County took full advantage, adding two late goals to put the result beyond doubt and clinch the championship.
Though the final scoreline didn't reflect the balance of play, the Panthers can take pride in a remarkable season filled with growth, resilience, and progress. They leave the campaign with their heads held high — and every reason to believe they'll be back stronger than ever next year.
