Chanute, KS- Nelson Landaverde scored a pair of goals and Ryan Davis stopped a career high nine shots as Neosho (11-3, 6-1) picked up a  2-1 win over Dodge City (9-4-2, 3-2-2) to extend their win streak to seven straight . The win pulls the Panthers within one point of Jayhawk Conference leader Coffeyville with two games to play.
 
Opening the game, the Neosho Panthers showcased some of their speed and agility as Nelson Landaverde scored the matches' first goal in the 15th minute. Dodge City was relatively quick to answer as they gained a goal in the 23rd minute. It was the first goal allowed by Ryan Davis' in over 300 minutes of play dating back to September 23 against Kansas City Kansas.
 
The Panthers would regain the lead 10 minutes later as they capitalized on  a mental lapse from Dodge City as they were called for a handball inside the box. Nelson Landaverde scored off of the ensuing penalty kick in the thirty-sixth minute. The first half would end with a 2-1 Neosho County lead.
 
The second half would see Neosho drop back and commit to defense as they only attempted three shots in the period. The Conquistadors attempted to take advantage of the opportunity as they got off 13 shots, but the Panther defense forced them into tough shots as only four attempts were on goal.
 
The win pulls Neosho within one point of Jayhawk Conference leader Coffeyville and sets up a match with conference championship implications Sunday. The Panthers will host Barton Community College (6-3-3, 4-1-2) at 4:00pm. I win would secure the Panthers their first conference title since 2006.
