Box Score The men's soccer team traveled to Miami, OK. To open the new season Friday and were able to come home with a win. The Panthers are now 5-1-1 in their season openers under head coach
Steven Harrison.
The Panthers and the Norsemen failed to score in the first half. With only four sophomores on the roster, the Panthers are relying on many young players year. The inexperience showed early.
"We had a lot of chances early to put some balls in but weren't able to do it. We were able to get some touches in the box but couldn't capitalize. I think there were some nerves and tightness, but that's to be expected with as young of a team as we have," said Harrison.
In the second half the Panthers were finally able to get on the board. The game's only goal came on a combination play as Joel Sanchez played it in to
Ryan Estus who put it in for his first career goal.
The one goal was all the Panthers would need as their defense was outstanding all night.
Gurjinder Brar notched his first career shutout in goal and the Panthers won for the third time in a row on opening day. The Panthers will be back in action Wednesday (Aug. 28) when they travel to Hesston College.
