Today the Lady Panther softball team hosted Hutchinson Community College for their Pink Day, which was a reschedule from April 7
th. The Panthers faced off against the Dragons with a doubleheader at 2 & 4 and got both wins from Hutchinson.
In game one, Neosho recorded 10 hits and off those hits, scored a total of 6 runs. Neosho's
Brittany Cooper went 2-4 in the first game along with many timely hits from the rest of the lineup. Neosho scored once in the 1
st and 2
nd and scored 4 runs in the 4
th to go up 6-1 on the Dragons. But Hutch wasn't letting up just yet. In the 5
th and 6
th, the Dragons scored 1 run apiece to make the score 6-3. In the 7
th inning, Hutch threatened again with adding one more run to the score and with a couple of errors on Neosho's defense, Hutch's base runner was thrown out at home ending the game.
Kyllie Sill was the winning pitcher for game 1 with 2 earned runs off of 7 hits and 2 strikeouts. Finals score was 6-4.
Both offense and defense carried over from game one for Neosho in game two. Neosho stranded 11 Dragon base runners and starting pitcher Mary Ann Greer only allowed 1 earned run, 6 hits in the seven innings pitched and 2 base on balls. In the 2
nd inning for the Panthers, Greer got on base with a walk, was moved over on
Kyllie Sill's single to left field and both runners were scored on
Kelsey Wilson's homerun over left center field to put Neosho up 3-1. Wilson recorded 3 RBI's on the hit. Neosho would score again on
Kaitlin Wilson's solo shot over center field to make the score 4-1 and then they would score one more time in the 5
th to make the final score 5-1.
Neosho Lady Panthers ended their regular season conference play at 15-15. The next games for the Panthers will be first round of Regional's on the weekend of April 27-29. Matchups for Regional's will be posted once all conference games are finished.
