Big First Half Pushes Panthers Past Cowley

Big First Half Pushes Panthers Past Colwey
NCCC Athletics

After last nights victory the panthers are now in a tie for second place in the Jayhawk East Conference at 7-4.

In the 1st meeting with Cowley the Panthers soph Chris Patton wasn't able to make the game due to an illness, but he came up big last night. Patton scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the first half.

Neosho dominated the paint in the 1st half leading by 13 at intermission. Cowley then out scored the Panthers 26-16 early in the 2nd half but the 13 point half time lead was too much for the Tigers to overcome.

The Panthers quickly went on a 10-2 run of their own and went back up 11 points (62-51). But the Tigers just wouldn't go away as they made one last run to push the game to (71-70).

Cowley was then forced to put the Panthers on the line and NCCC guard Thomas Drew had a chance to push the Panthers to a 3 point lead but came up short.  Luckily Tyler Hickert was there to grab the offensive rebound and Cowley was forced to foul Hickert with 5.9 seconds. Hickert hit both free-throws and put the Panthers up 73-70. Cowley tossed up one more desperation shot but came up short.

Brison White had 15 points, Slim Magee had 12 points, 10 rebounds and Patton had 21 points and 17 rebounds.
