The 2012 men's soccer season came to a close Wednesday (Oct. 18) evening with a 1-0 loss to Hesston College. The Panthers finish the season 6-8-2 overall and 2-6-2 in conference play.
On a night where wind gusted above 40 miles per hour, both teams had a hard time adjusting to the difficult conditions.
The Panthers, playing with the wind at their backs during the first half took advantage numerous times getting shots on goal with no luck.
The Panthers best look of the night came late in the first half when
Mason Wright was fouled in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Wright took the kick but was stopped after an impressive play by the Hesston goal keeper. His rebound came right back to him, however, but once again the keeper made a nice play to preserve the shutout.
The only goal of the night would come with just over three minutes remaining. Hesston would earn a corner kick and put it in with a header to take a 1-0 lead.
