Marisa Compton enters her first year as the Head Coach for the Panthers. Coach Compton was promoted to head coach after spending five seasons as the Neosho County Volleyball assistant coach.
In 2017, a veteran squad with 7 sophomores, finished the season with a 28-12 overall record and a 6-4 conference record. The Panthers finished 5th in conference. Neosho qualified for the District Tournament, where the Panthers would fall in the District Championship match to Coffeyville. Five Panthers were named to the All-Conference team and the All-District Team. Also, Breann Becker earned NJCAA DII Second Team All-American Honors. She is the first Neosho volleyball player to be named an All-American since 2007. Not only did this team produce on the court, but in the classroom. Thirteen Panthers were named Academic All-Americans.
During the 2016 season, Compton helped lead a veteran squad with 7 sophomores, who finished the season with a 21-12 overall record and a 7-3 conference record. The Panthers finished 3rd in conference. Neosho qualified for the District Tournament, where the Panthers would fall in the District Championship match to Johnson County. Four Panthers were named to the All-Conference team and the All-District Team.The Panthers also had seven players who were named Academic All-Americans.
In her first season as assistant coach, Compton helped lead a young Panther squad to a 24-14 overall record, the sixth 20+ win for Neosho and eighth straight year of qualifying for the District Tournament. The Panthers had 3 players named to the All-Jayhawk Conference team and the All-District Team. The Panthers also had 5 players named Academic All-Americans.
Compton returned to Neosho after serving as the Head Volleyball Coach at Labette Community College for three years. In her third year with the Cardinals, she lead the team to their first ever KJCCC District tournament apperance and their best conference record. Labette was one win shy of the program record for most wins in a season.
Prior to being the Head Coach at Labette , Compton served as the Assistant Coach for former Neosho Volleyball Coach Lindsay Hill at Fort Scott Community College, who finished the season with a 25-10 record, the program's best finish in school history.
Prior to being the assistant coach at FSCC, Compton served as a student assistant for Austin Peay State University ,who finished the season with a 26-8 record, the program's first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship since 1991, and its first-ever appearance in the NCAA DI Championship Tournament.
Compton played at APSU for 3 years. During Compton’s senior year at APSU she was part of a team that recorded a 22-9 overall mark and a 15-3 Ohio Valley Conference record, which was its best league mark in 17 years. Austin Peay finished 2009 in second place in league standings, earning a first-round bye in the OVC Tournament, Austin Peay's best OVC finish since winning the regular-season crown in 1992.
Compton was also a part of Lindsay Hill’s 2006 squad at Neosho County Community College that finished the season ranked No. 14 nationally.
Marisa is married to Aaron Compton and they reside in Chanute, KS.
