Tulsa, OK - The men's and women's teams took to another night meet under the lights at the Mohawk Sports Complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event was hosted by Rogers State University. The late night event is paired with an Oklahoma multiple division High School race that really brings a large crowd. It was a great shot for the Panthers to make a big jump forward on the season. The Panthers were lead by
Noah Laird on the men's side and
Bethany Barger on the Women's side. Noah ran a really impressive PR in the 4 mile race coming in at 21:46 and placing 36th overall. Bethany ran 22:07 for the the 5k course just narrowly missing her PR by a few seconds, she did move herself into 16th all time for Neosho County.
"We were much better team time on the men's side than we were a week ago and seeing that big of drops for some is encouraging. The women were much improved as well we just have to get everyone healthy. If we can clean up a few things with our warm-up and meet preparation I think we could really accomplish some big things this year. Ultimately though it comes down to how bad our athletes want it and if they are willing to put themselves in a position to go for it and really lay everything on the line," Head Cross Country Coach
Trey Bruton.
After an off week to train and prepare the Panther Head to a big time event at the MSSU Stampede September 20, in Joplin, MO. This event pulls some of the best talent in the country to run on one of the nicest courses in the region.
