Chanute, KS - The #4-ranked
Neosho County Community College men's soccer team delivered another strong performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating
UA Cossatot 5–1 at the Chanute Sports Complex.
Despite a sharp start from the Panthers, it was the visitors who struck first, capitalizing on a corner in the 10th minute to take a 1–0 lead against the run of play. Neosho quickly responded, maintaining their composure and rhythm in possession. Their pressure paid off in the 28th minute when
Paul Eder equalized with a smart finish past the goalkeeper after an excellent driving run from
Chris Armitage. Just four minutes later, the Panthers took the lead through
Keane Hazeldine, who found the net after
Adam Larking set down a trademark long throw from
Yuki Suzuki.
The hosts extended their advantage in the 43rd minute as
Cohen Izzard made it 3–1, finishing a well-worked move down the right side created by
Keelan Coleman and
Malique Roach. Neosho carried their momentum into the second half, with
Hazeldine converting from the penalty spot in the 50th minute to make it 4–1. The scoring was completed in the 79th minute when
Izzard grabbed his second of the afternoon, finishing off a precise cross from
Bailey Mapletoft. It was a convincing display from the Panthers, showcasing their attacking depth and consistency as they continue their strong run in NJCAA play.
Next up,
Neosho County will travel to take on fellow KJCCC member
Pratt Community College on
Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
