Box Score Chanute, KS – The Pirates of Independence took down the Panthers of Neosho in a five set thriller. The Pirates would come out on top 3-2. The Panthers would fall behind early in set one letting the Pirates go on a 4-0 run to start the match. The Panthers would then grab a three point lead at 20-17 before falling in the first set 21-25. Set two the roles would be reversed and Neosho would come out with an eight point lead at 10-2. They would keep a lead the whole set and take set two 25-18. Set three would come down to extra points. The Pirates were able to rally at the end for two and take set three 28-26. Set four would be all the Panthers taking the set with the largest deficit of the match at 25-14. Set five would go to the Pirates 15-10.
Offensively the Panthers were led by freshman outside Dudolski with 21 kills followed by sophomore right side Krokroskia with 14. Sophomore setter Marah Zenner tallied 49 assists on the match. Defensively the Panthers were led by Dudolski and Zenner with 24 digs and 17.
The Panthers are now 12-6 overall and 3-3 in KJCCC play. They will travel to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Wednesday, September 28th for a nonconference matchup
