Chanute, KS- The Neosho County Community College Lady Panthers fell at home Monday night 67-76 against the Highland Community College Lady Scotties.
The Lady Panthers found themselves down 23-11 after the first quarter, following yet another slow start offensively.
Neosho County was not going to go away without a fight. Head Coach J.J. Davis was pleased with the fight and the energy of his team in the second half. "We got down 18 but we battled and got back into the game," stated Davis.
"We exerted a lot of energy to take the lead against a really good team," explained Davis. Once the Lady Scotties took the lead again, the nationally ranked team, just slowly pulled away for the 9-point victory.
The loss drops the Lady Panthers to 14-7 overall and 4-4 in the KJCCC.
The Lady Panthers will travel to Fort Scott Community College on Wednesday night to take on the Lady Greyhounds. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
Sarah Hunt led the Panthers in scoring with 14 points.
Im'Unique White added 13 points.
Chantoryia Rivers chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. Jenna Eytchson and
Briona Jensen both grabbed 6 rebounds.
