Chanute, KS - The Panthers hosted Bethel College on Tuesday night, coming away with a 96-85 victory in Coach Taylor Shaffer's debut as Head Coach of the Panthers. NCCC got off to a hot start getting up 10-0, but Bethel fought back with outside shooting and came within 5 points late in the 2
nd half.
"Any time you can walk away with a win, it's a good day," Coach Shaffer said. "We did some really good things in transition and shared the ball well, but there is certainly some room for growth. You have to give credit to Bethel for the way they shot the ball, but we have to get a lot better on the defensive end. We have a quick turnaround, so we'll watch film, learn from our mistakes, and look to be better on Thursday against Kansas Wesleyan."
The Panthers shot 28/33 from the free throw line, and finished with 57 rebounds, 15 more than their opponent.
