Chanute, KS - In what was a hard fought game at Panther Gymnasium on Tuesday night, State Fair Community College edged out Neosho County, 65-61. Davon Ellis was dominant for the Roadrunners, to the tune of 25 points and 6 rebounds, shooting 11 for 15 from the field in 39 minutes. SFCC was able to secure their win by shooting a blistering 51% from the field and 47% from 3.
After trailing by 13 points early in the 2
nd half, Neosho mounted a comeback behind the strong play of Jamarion Butler, who attacked the basket relentlessly on his way to 18 points and 6 rebounds, going 9 for 15 on shots. He was aided by Australian sophomore guard Michael Odingo (11 points, 3 rebounds), whose 3 point shooting brought the Panthers to within 1 late in the 2
nd half.
NCCC had a couple good 3pt looks in the final minute to take the lead, but couldn't get them to fall, as was the theme for the Panthers all game as they shot 6 for 27 (22%) from the 3 point line.Â
