Panther Softball Sweeps cloud on Last Home Date of the Year

Katie Boline was clutch at the plate with ducks on the pond on Friday, driving in four on two hits to lead the Panthers past Cloud Community College 12-4, in game one.  Boline drove in runs on a single in the second, a sacrifice fly in the third, and a home run in the fifth. Neosho got things moving quickly in the first inning, when an error scored one run. The Panthers pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second, Boline singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run and Hannah Duin homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Neosho put up five runs in the third inning.  The Panthers put the pressure on, lead-off by a walk by Alyssa Gillespie, a sacrifice fly by Boline, and an error on a ball put in play by Journee Zito. Cassidy Paulson earned the win for Neosho. The right-hander allowed four hits and four runs over five innings, striking out three. Panthers hit two home runs, Boline had a four-bagger in the fifth inning and Duin had a long ball in the second inning. Neosho scattered nine hits in the game. Espy Daniels, Boline, and Duin each collected multiple hits for Panthers. Daniels went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Panthers in hits. Boline led the RBI category with four, with Duin following closely with three. 

Game two was a little closer, with a 6-4 win over Cloud. The Panthers fired up the offense in the first inning, when Hannah Duin singled scoring Katie Boline. Espy Daniel's single scored Duin later in the inning. Neosho pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning when Chelsey Hughes singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring both Amanda Dodds and Lydia Brown. Amanda Dodds, Katie Boline, Espy Daniels, Hughes, and Duin each collected one hit to lead Panthers. Dodds, Hughes, and Duin all had two RBI's a piece. Ravin Moore was the winning pitcher for game two.. Moore surrendered four runs on seven hits over five and a third innings, striking out one and walking zero. Olivia Cummings threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cummings recorded the last five outs to earn the save for the Panthers.

What's Next:

The Panthers will head to postseason play on May 15th. They will take on the Labette Cardinals, at Pryor (OK) high school. Game time is set for 10:00 AM.
