Game One Vs. Labette Community College
The Panther softball team had a good run in the regional tournament down in Pryor, Oklahoma this past weekend. The rain was not a big help for day one. Neosho was slated for a 10AM start time against Labette Community College. The game was delayeat the start, and then in the bottom of the seventh inning, with one out and a runner on first, there was a forty-five minute lightning delay with Neosho ahead 4-3. After a sing off in the indoor, the Panthers came back out with revived energy, to seal the deal over the Cardinals. The game was tied at three with Neosho batting in the top of the sixth when Olivia Cummings's sac fly scored Espy Daniels, who had singled to center field earlier in the inning. Hannah Duin had a long ball in the fourth inning. The Panthers scattered seven hits in the game. Daniels and Duin each collected two hits to lead Panthers. Duin, Zito, and Cummings each had an RBI as well. Cummings was credited with the victory for Panthers. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out three.
Game Two Vs. Murray State
The team sat for two games and then played a tough Murray State team, ending in a 9-1 loss. The Panthers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Murray State College, giving up nine runs. Espy Daniels led the Panthers with two hits in two at bats. Ayche Marchoud scored Espy Daniels in the fifth to put up the lone run. Lauren Fuller took the loss for the Panthers. The righty allowed two hits and two runs over one-third of an inning, walking zero.
Game Three Vs. Labette Community College
Day two for Neosho did not end in the Panther's favor. The Panthers watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 6-3 loss to Labette Community College. After the Cardinals scored one run in the first three innings, Neosho never stopped fighting. Hannah Duin came up clutch with a two-run bomb to left-center to keep the Panthers in the ball game, but it wasn't enough, as a three run seventh inning sealed the deal for Labette. Olivia Cummings took the loss for the Panthers. The pitcher went five and a third innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out two. Mallory Gazaway and Duin each collected one hit to lead the Panthers. Duin led the team with two RBI's.
Panther Athletics is very proud of the season that the Panther softball team put together. Panther Nation wishes the 2021 graduates the best of luck. We are already excited for another great spring of Panther softball in 2021-2022.
