Panther baseball squared off with the Blue Devils of KCK for the sixth time this spring. This matchup had a lot more on the line, as the winner would be crowned the Sub-Regional Champion. The Panthers battled from pitch one to the last pitch, unfortunately, they come up short in a 9-8 loss. The loss ends the Panthers season with a 27-27 record.
Neosho County sent freshman pitcher,
Drake LaRoche, to the hill to start against the Blue Devils. LaRoche tossed 5.2 innings giving up 4 earned runs on 5 hits.
Brady Pacha also logged 2.1 innings out of the pen giving up 0 earned runs and 3 hits. Defensively, the Panthers struggled to field the routine baseball, as they committed 5 errors in the ballgame. Unfortunately, some of these errors came in big moments and the Blue Devils capitalized on the miscues.
Offensively, Neosho plated 8 runners on 10 hits.
Andrew Brautman and
Khalil Thrasher logged multi-hit games for the Panthers in the loss.
Brett Wiemers and
Ivan Witt both left the yard to ignite the Panthers offensively, and both players logged 2 RBI in the game.
Panther Athletics is very appreciative of all the 2021 graduates and their hard work and dedication to Neosho County baseball. All of the graduating sophomores exemplified what it meant to be a Panther both on and off the field. Coach Murry and his staff are very excited for next year and are looking for big things out of their returning players and the incoming freshman in 2021-2022.
