The Panthers paid a visit to Ottawa University to take on their JV team in non-conference play. Neosho county flexed their muscles and showcased some hot hitting as they took game one by a score of 8-2 and taking game two with a 10-0 win.
Game 1:
The Panthers fired up the offense from the first inning, when Journee Zito grounded out, scoring one run. Even though Ottawa tied it up in the bottom of the first, the Panthers pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning and scored another four runs in the fourth inning when the Panthers put the pressure on the braves. An error on bunts put in play by Lydia Brown and Espy Daniels followed by a big double by Hannah Duin charged up the offense. Olivia Cummings got the win for Panthers. The righty went six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out five. Lauren Fuller threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Neosho totaled nine hits for game one, with Hannah Duin, Mallory Gazaway, and Kirsten Birdwell all having a multiple hit game. Duin went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Panthers in hits. The Panthers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error in game one.Â
Game 2:
Ravin Moore was brilliant on the rubber for game two, as Moore threw a no-hitter to lead the Panthers past Ottawa University 10-0. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on zero hits over five innings, striking out two and walking zero. The Panthers' offense stepped up and secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fifth inning. Neosho put the pressure on the braves with singles by Mallory Gazaway, Lydia Brown, and Espy Daniels, an error on a ball put in play by Britney Hughes, and a double by Journee Zito. Zito, Gazaway, Hughes, Brown, and Daniels each had RBIs in the big inning. The Panthers collected 14 hits. Kirsten Birdwell, Hannah Duin, Cassidy Paulson, Daniels, and Zito all managed multiple hits for the Panthers. Birdwell went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits. Zito and Daniels both led in RBI's with 3 a piece.Â
