Panthers Sweep Cloud County on Road

Panthers Sweep the T-Birds of Cloud County Community College, in Concordia, KS. The Panthers came away with a 7-3 victory in game one and a 12-5 win in game two.

Game 1:

Panthers Softball nabbed the lead late in the game in a 7-3 victory over Cloud Community College on Sunday. The game was tied at three with Neosho batting in the top of the sixth when an error scored one run for the Panthers. Softball fought hard and earned the victory despite allowing Cloud County Community College to score three runs in the first inning. The score was evened up at three in the top of the third inning when Mallory Gazaway singled, scoring Birdwell and Duin. Neosho County put up another three runs in the seventh inning with big back-to-back jacks by Hannah Duin and Katie Boline. Cassidy Paulson would come up a couple batters later with an RBI single, scoring Amanda Dodds. Ten hits were collected for Neosho throughout game one. Paulson, Boline, and Gazaway each collected multiple hits for the Panthers, with Boline and Paulson each having three hits and an RBI to lead the offense. Mallory Gazaway led the team in RBI's with three. The team was sure-handed in the field and did not commit a single error. Duin had the most chances in the field with nine, while Paulson pitched the Panthers to victory. Paulson allowed seven hits and three runs over seven innings, while striking out eight.

Game 2:

Panthers Clinches Lead in Sixth Inning to Take Game Two. Neosho defeated Cloud Community College 12-5 for game two after taking the lead late in the game. The Panther offense secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Daniels, Mallory Gazaway, Ayche Marchoud, and Britney Hughes, all knocking in runs in the inning. The Panthers trailed 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning when Espy Daniels doubled, scoring Hughes and Birdwell. The offense went through the lineup once and when Hughes came back around she hit one out of the yard, earning herself a single and home run all in the sixth. The offense also collected 13 hits on the day.  Duin, Marchoud, Hughes, and Kirsten Birdwell all managed multiple hits for the Panthers. Duin went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Panthers in hits. Mallory Gazaway repeated herself and had a team-leading 3 RBI's for game two. Ravin Moore secured the victory in the circle. Moore allowed six hits and four runs over seven innings, while striking out two.
