Late Score Costs Panthers Against Highland College
The Panthers lost the lead late in a 6-2 defeat to Highland College on Tuesday. The game was tied at two in the sixth inning when Highland pulled away for good. Cassidy Paulson took the loss for the Panthers, in the circle. The righty allowed ten hits and six runs over five and two-thirds innings, and struck out seven. Neosho hit two home runs on the day. Kirsten Birdwell had a long ball in the fourth inning. Katie Boline followed her up with another one in the same inning. Boline led Neosho at the plate, with two hits in three at bats. The Panthers didn't commit a single error in the field. Hannah Duin had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
Highland College Captures Lead Early to Defeat Panthers
The Panthers watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-4 loss to Highland College, for game two. The Panthers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Highland College, giving up ten runs. Neosho started off hot in the first inning, when leadoff Kirsten Birdwell hit a solo homer to start the game. Ravin Moore took the loss for Neosho County, as the starting pitcher. The righty allowed six hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking zero. The Panthers socked three home runs on the day. Birdwell and Mallory Gazaway went yard in the first inning, and Katie Boline put one out in the seventh inning. Despite the loss the offense scattered ten hits in the game. Hannah Duin, Boline, and Birdwell all had two hits to lead the Panthers.
