Panthers Split with Ranked Highland Scotties at Home

Panthers Defeat Ranked Highland at HomeĀ 

The Panthers defeated Highland College 6-5 on Thursday, for game one after taking the lead late in the game. The Panthers knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the third inning when Mallory Gazaway scored Kirsten Birdwell. Neosho then scored four more runs, as Journee Zito hit a grand slam over deep left field. The game was tied at five with Neosho batting in the bottom of the sixth when Mallory Gazaway singled on a 2-1 count, scoring Katie Boline, the go ahead run. Hannah Duin led the Panthers with two hits in four at bats. Zito had a team leading four RBI's followed by Gazaway's two. Lauren Fuller started the game for the Panthers. Fuller lasted two and a third innings, allowing six hits and five runs while walking zero. Cassidy Paulson earned the win for the Panthers. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out five and walking one.

Highland College Captures Lead Early to Defeat Panthers

Panthers fell behind early during game two and couldn't come back in a 13-2 loss to Highland College. The Panthers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Highland College, giving up 13 runs. Cassidy Paulson took the loss for the Panthers. The righty surrendered four runs on one hit over one-third of an inning. Olivia Cummings came in in relief and threw. Katie Boline went 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk to lead the Panthers in hits. Duin, Brown, Birdwell, and Marchoud each had a hit as well. Espy Daniels also had a sacrifice bunt.
