Daniels's Walk-off Picture Perfect Ending In Panther's Victory Over Fort Scott Community College
The Panthers took Friday's game one in dramatic fashion, with a 10-9 walk-off victory over Fort Scott Community College. The Panthers trailed 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Espy Daniels's sac fly scored two runs for the Panthers. Katie Boline led the Panthers to victory on the offensive side by driving in five runs. Boline went 3-for-4 at the plate with 5 RBI's. Boline drove in runs on a home run in the third and a home run in the seventh. The Panthers got things started quickly in the first inning, when Daniels hit a solo homer over left field. The Panther used several pitchers in game one, using three pitchers. Ravin Moore earned the win. The righty surrendered three runs on four hits over two innings, striking out two. Lauren Fuller threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cassidy Paulson started the game and pitched two and one-thirds innings, giving up six hits, walking one, and striking out two. The Panthers totaled 14 hits. Boline, Fuller, Hannah Duin, Lydia Brown, and Daniels all managed multiple hits for Panthers. Mallory Gazaway and Espy Daniels also got in on the home run action in the first and seventh innings.Â
Neosho Puts up Impressive Offensive Numbers for Game Two
Despite allowing three runs in the first inning, Neosho defeated Fort Scott Community College 21-5 in game two. The Panthers secured the victory in large part by a huge 15 run fourth inning. The Panthers took an early lead in the first inning when Cummings singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Neosho secured the lead for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Cummings, again drove in runs, after doubling on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. In the fourth inning, the Panthers put the pressure on,with doubles by Zito, Gazaway, Cummings, and Boline, home runs by Birdwell, Zito, and Gillespie, and an error on a ball put in play by Birdwell. Cummings was credited with the victory for Panthers.The righty lasted five innings, allowing two hits and five runs while striking out nine. The Neosho offense hit another four home runs in this game as well. Birdwell had two leave the park, in the first and fourth innings, putting her at 12 on the season. Gillespie had one off of the scoreboard in the fourth inning, and Zito took one out in the fourth as well. The team racked up 18 hits during the game. Cummings, Zito, Birdwell, Gazaway, and Daniels each managed three hits a piece for the Panthers. Duin, Boline, and Dodds had one each to add to the team effort on a big win.Â
