Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Panthers Fall to Garden City on the Road

The Neosho County Panthers traveled to Garden City Community College to square off with the Broncbusters after their win against Pratt Community College earlier in the week. The young Panthers were exposed to what life on the road is like in the Jayhawk Conference. Garden City took full advantage of having 25% of their stands full. Coach Davis on the environment, "tonight was a true test for our young players to understand what college basketball is like at this level. The opposing crowd definitely played a factor in this loss, but we also battled with a good team in Garden City. Our players got mentally and physically better today".

Garden City forced the Panthers into multiple turnovers in the third quarter by using a suffocating man to man press and held the deadly Panther three-point shooters to 9-28 for the afternoon. The Panthers point guards were the focal point of Garden City's defensive attack, causing the Panthers to speed up the pace and made it difficult to produce a quality shot.

Coach Davis on the game and the development of his team, "Garden City came out with a run in the first quarter, but our team responded which I was very happy about. As the game went on we just didn't execute well enough to come away with a win. We continue to grow, and get 1% better each and every time out. We played very well for three quarters of this game. We are going to continue working hard and putting together four quarters of 'Neosho Way' basketball. If this carries over we are going to be very tough to beat in April".

Sophomore Rajone Callahan produced her first double digit scoring game performance of the season, which is a welcomed sight for the Panthers.
