Box Score Overland Park, KS – The Panthers took on the 4
th ranked Cavaliers of Johnson County Community College on Wednesday night. The Cavaliers would come out on top with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-22. Set one the Cavaliers had an early four point lead at 10-6, the Panthers were able to pull within one at 12-13. Johnson would extend their lead at 22-17 and finish off the set 25-20. Set two the Cavaliers would gain a six point lead at 15-9. Again, the Cavaliers would extend their lead to seven at 20-13. The Panthers were able to pull within three at 19-22 but Johnson would rally three points to take set two 25-19. Set three would be tied at 10-10 before the Panthers took three point lead at 14-11. The Cavaliers would then take the lead at 16-15 before a kill by the Panthers would tie it back up at 16-16. The Panthers took a three point lead at 21-18 forcing a Johnson timeout. Out of the timeout the Cavaliers scored three straight to tie it up at 21-21. The Cavaliers finished set three at 25-22.
The Panther offense was led by sophomore right side
Rylee Moseman with 10 kills followed by sophomore outside
Hannah Brisco with 9. Sophomore libero
Brooklyn Strobel led the defense with 15 digs followed by freshman setter
Marah Zenner and freshman defensive specialists
Riley Kennedy who both tallied 9 digs on the match.
The Panthers finished out KJCCC play at 6-4 and 13-11 overall for the regular season. The Panthers will travel to Kansas City Kansas to take on the Blue Devils of KCKCC for the first round of the district tournament on November 3
