Panthers Sweep Ottawa JV in Day Two Matchup

The Neosho County Panthers finished up their four game series with Ottawa University JV this afternoon. The home run played a major factor in this game as the wind was favorable out to deep left field. The Panthers relied upon: good starting pitching, timely hitting, and stellar defense to come away with two wins for the day. The Panthers won game one by a score of 11-4 in seven innings and won game two in a run-rule 21-0 in five innings of play.
Game One:
Sophomore left handed pitcher Ben Des Rosiers took the hill for game number one. Des Rosiers pitched 5 complete innings giving up four runs on six hits. Neosho County scored 11 runs on eight hits in game one. The Panther offense relied on the long ball to manufacture some runs as Drew Miller hit a grand slam and Brett Wiemers hit a two-run shot. Andrew Brautman (3), Drew Miller (3), Brett Wiemers, and Luke Burk all tallied hits to contribute to the win. Chase Curtis made his season debut on the mound pitching one inning and giving up zero runs. Tyler McQuinn pitched a scoreless seventh inning to seal the win for the Panthers. This 11-4 victory extended the Panthers win streak to six games and increased their overall record to 7-2 on the year. 
Game Two:
Neosho County freshman pitcher Taylor Parrett toed the rubber for game two. He was marvelous on the mound tossing a complete game (five innings) and giving up no runs on two hits. He did not give up a free pass and struck out eight Ottawa University Braves. The Panther offense came to play in game two and scored 21 runs on 21 hits. The home run ball was a factor in this game as well as Luke Burk and Brett Wiemers both hit deep fly balls that left the yard. Andrew Brautman (4), Connor Jeffers, Cam Cox, Drew Miller, Luke Wolgamott (2), Chase Curtis (4), Austin Arceneaux (2), Reece Flax, Luke Burk (3), Vinny Esparza, and Brett Wiemers all notched hits in the victory. This 21-0 victory extends the Panthers winning streak to seven games and improved their record to 8-2 on the year.
