Chanute, KS - The Lady Panthers of Neosho County Community College lost to one of the more talented teams in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference on Wednesday evening at home.
Dialing up their pursuit of winning a 13th match on the year, NCCC lost 3-0 to Kansas City Kansas, with game scores of 25-23, 25-15 and 25-21. The Lady Panthers have now dropped to 12-14 on the season.
Jenna DeVore had 29 assists and
Hanna Mowdy registered nine kills. Both
Julia McVey and
Savana Godfrey had six kills.
"We're struggling with consistency right now, so we're looking beautiful for seven or eight points, and then we give them all right back," head coach
Asya Herron said after the match. "Really our push is to lessen our errors and make the other team work for their points, and right now they are not. We're going in a stretch of five, six, sometimes seven or eight points, where the other team is not even earning anything, we're making all of our errors. We're just trying to eliminate those right now."
NCCC finished the game with 23 hit errors, four service errors and one block error. But even with the errors, the Lady Panthers had a chance to stay competitive in the last game.
In the final game, NCCC went up 2-0 early, but then KCK went on a 13-6 run; the Lady Panthers, however, went on an 11-7 run.
