Highland, KS - Neosho volleyball leaves the Highland Labor Day Tournament 3-1 with wins versus Southwestern Community College (IA), Iowa Lakes Community College (IA) and Benedictine University (KS). The Panthers single defeat came from Region 2 foe Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
The Panthers dropped their first match of the weekend to NEO A&M (RV) 1-3 with set scores of 19-25, 23-25, 25-23, 17-25. The Panthers were plagued with errors and struggled finding a rhythm the entire match. Neosho was led in offense by
Savana Godfrey with 17 kills on 47 attempts,
Jenna DeVore added 38 assists while freshman Libero
Michaela Bowers led the defense with 25 digs.
Next, Neosho took out Southwestern Community College 3-0 with dominating set scores of 25-7, 25-13, 25-16. Sophomore Middle Blocker
Carlee Noll led the attack with 7 kills hitting and impressive .778% and tacked on 2 solo blocks. Freshman
Nyah Alexander led the team with 10 digs and Jenna Devore ended the match with 27 assists.
On day two of the tournament the Panthers swept both Iowa Lakes Community College 25-18, 25-19, 25-20 and Benedictine University 25-14, 25-11, 27-25. Versus Iowa Lakes, the Panthers finished with a less than stellar .162% hitting percentage. Neosho's
Savana Godfrey again led the Panthers in kills with 13 and freshman Hannah Mowdy added nine. Defensively
Michaela Bowers led with 17 digs and
Payton Bruce was tough at the net adding 2 assist blocks and 1 solo block.
The Panthers took care of business in their final match-up of the day against Benedictine University tallying 44 digs, 37 kills and 9 blocks.
Jenna DeVore finished with 35 assists,
Carlee Noll added 3.5 blocks,
Savana Godfrey totaled 13 kills and sophomore defensive specialist
Sydney Hilliard tacked on 7 digs.
