Softball Splits with Metropolitan Community College

Kansas City, MO- Neosho Softball scored six runs in the fourth inning on its way to a 9-3 victory in game one over Metropolitan Community College on Monday, April 1st. The Panthers offense in the inning was led by Ash Stipp and Alyssa Rogers, who all drove in runs. Neosho first got on the board in the second inning when Libby Horton singled on a 2-1 count, scoring Ryleigh Chaffin. The Panthers offense continued when Sierra Spurlock tripled down the right field line, on the next pitch Escoe hit Spurlock in for a run. The Panthers extended their lead with six runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth inning, Stipp homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs and Rogers singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs. Sophomore pitcher, Kaelee Escoe got the win for the Panthers. She lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and only three runs, while striking out three. Ashlyn Stipp hit her third homerun of the season in the fourth inning. The Panthers saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Escoe, Kat McManus, and Rogers each managed multiple hits for Neosho, with Spurlock, Horton, Phillips, and Stipp raking in one hit a piece. 

 The Panther's effort to come back from a seven run deficit in the fifth inning came up just short, as they fell 11-9 to Metropolitan Community College in game two on Monday. Kaelee Escoe, Madi Phillips, and Ryleigh Chaffin picked up RBIs to lead the rally. Neosho scored four runs in the seventh inning to try for a late comeback. Phillips and Chaffin each had RBIs in the big inning. Freshman pitcher Ryleigh Chaffin took the loss for the Panthers. The Panthers launched one home run in game two when Madi Phillips went yard in the seventh inning. The Panthers once again hit the ball well as they racked up 18 total hits. Phillips, Ash Stipp, Escoe, Sierra Spurlock, Kat McManus, and Chaffin all collected multiple hits for Neosho, while the rest of theNeosho roster mustered up a hit a piece. Stipp and Phillips each collected three hits to lead the Panthers offense.

Neosho will return to KJCCC conference play on Thursday, April 4th as they travel to Parsons, KS to take on Labette Community College in a double-header starting at 2:00pm.
