Iola, KS. – The Neosho Women's Basketball team ended regular season play on Saturday afternoon with a 89-79 victory over rival Allen Community College. Neosho finished the regular season tied for 5th place in the Jayhawk Conference with a 6-14 conference record and 9-21 overall record. The matchup between these two rival teams has always been extremely competitive. The game was close until the Fourth Quarter. The Panthers used
Kelcey Hinz and
Alexis Casher in the post and the Red Devils struggled to keep the Panthers from scoring under the basket. The post play along with some timely 3-pointers by
Jessica Jones helped Neosho build up a lead.
Kelcey Hinz led the Panthers in scoring with 27 points 9 rebounds and 2 steals.
Jessica Jones added 18 points.
Alexis Casher finished the game with a double-double scoring 13 points and ripping down 12 rebounds.
The first round of Region VI playoffs is next week. Neosho will travel to Great Bend, KS to take on the Cougars of Barton County, Wednesday February 27
th. The game is set to start at 5:30 pm.
